Yoga Nidra is a fascinating practice, which takes us to that blissful place that we experience just before we lose consciousness in sleep. In this place, deep healing can occur.

This ancient Tantric practice modified for us by Swami Satyananda is a whole practice in itself. It can be used as such, or in place of Savasana, after yoga asana and pranayama practice. There is never a bad time to practice Yoga Nidra.

The practice is not only deeply relaxing, but also healing and transformative on an energetic and psychic level. The voice guides the consciousness to various different points of focus, gradually drawing awareness to hidden, unconscious areas of the psyche.

It has been scientifically proven to relax the nervous system in a systematic way which induces a deep, meditative state. This state may otherwise be difficult to access, even after years of diligent sitting practice. The practice is completed lying on the back in Savasana position, and with the eyes closed. There is no physical effort, or requirement, whatsoever.

As long as one can hear, one can practice Yoga Nidra.
